The state flag of Nebraska consists of the seal of the state of Nebraska centered on a field of dark blue. The seal, designed in 1867 by Isaac Wiles has a picture of a blacksmith hammering on an anvil, a settler’s cabin, a sheath of wheat, a steamboat on a river and the transcontinental railroad, with mountains in the background. The state motto, “Equality Before the Law” in on a banner above the landscape.
